1988 Doug Bradbury Manitou
Doug Bradbury started building innovative aluminum mountain bike frames in Colorado Springs, Colorado around 1985. As compared to his earliest bikes with very tight and steep geometry, this particular bike has a long 24 inch toptube and a slack 67 degree headtube angle. The wheel base is a healthy 43.5 inches, which is a couple of inches longer than comparable bikes at the time. Also unusual on this bike is the externally butted seattube, which would appear to have been made by turning down a tube with a 1/2 inch wall thickness. Characteristic features include the asymmetric 145 millimeter rear axle spacing, 115 millimeter front axle spacing, 90 millimeter wide bottom bracket shell, seatstay mounted U-brake, and triple clamp fork. As was typical, this bike is built with a host of components from IRD, Cook Brothers Racing, and Bullseye.
