1988 Charlie Cunningham Racer #22C
This Charlie Cunningham Racer was designed with long adventure rides in mind. From the curved Type I fork for a softer ride, to the special mounting points on the fork for a front rack, to the 4 water bottle mounts, this bike was designed to go the distance. In fact, the original owner took the bike on just such an adventure in Nepal. Somewhat unusual is the seatpost with a Dura Ace head grafted on, giving more flexibility in saddle adjustment over a fixed angle post. Also, the wheelset has Dura Ace quick releases for ease of use compared to Charlie's Slo-Release skewers. The bike also has Charlie's preferred pedal configuration, which is a heavily modified Shimano T-100 platform which was intended for triathlon use.
