1984 Charlie Cunningham Racer F

Beginning in late 1986, Marin local Terry Griebel began racing for Charlie Cunningham's mountain bike team, matching up against the likes of Ned Overend and John Tomac at NORBA nationals (see photos below).  However, the bike Terry raced had been made earlier, in 1984, and subsequently refurbished and updated by Charlie for Terry's use.  Those updates included replacing the brazed steel cable guides with machined aluminum, installing a taper wedge system for stem attachment, and replacing the Type III unicrown fork with a Type II.  The bike saw various updates over the years, including 7 speed index shifting and even a Rock Shox suspension fork.

More information about Charlie Cunningham bicycles can be found on the Charlie Cunningham Photo Archive page.
