1975 Ritchey Track
This lugged track bike was built by Tom Ritchey for an accomplished road racer in Sacramento, California named Butch Stilson. Although Stilson's career was cut short by a neck injury due to a swimming accident, he would go on to become a successful cycling coach as a quadriplegic, guiding riders such as Norm Alvis and Scott McKinley. With maybe a dozen made, Ritchey track bikes are extremely rare. This bike features fine craftsmanship such as thinned and filled lugs topped off with chrome plating. The fabricated bi-plane fork crown is typical of Ritchey's early road bikes and a design that would carry over to his mountain bikes.
